| My name is Ben Krolick, and I am a 3D character animator based in London. I have always been interested in drawing and animation, and studied 'Art Foundation' and a degree in 'Illustration'. Upon completing my degree at Middlesex University in 2001, I began working at 12foot6 LTD, a small studio in Central London. During the 7 years at 12foot6 I mainly created animations in Flash. Firstly for the Internet, then quickly moving on to to broadcast. Much of my Flash work required composting, so I began using After Effects which introduced me to the 3D environment. Due to the limitations of 3D layers in After Effects, I began teaching myself Maya. Firstly with online tutorials and then with a Foundation in Maya course at Escape Studios, London. Throughout my professional career, my focus has always been Character Animation, so I enrolled in Animation Mentor, the online animation school, and began my 'Diploma in Advanced Character Animation'. As the primary focus of 12foot6 was 2D animation, I decided to become a freelancer to pursue my 3D career. In the past 8 months I have successfully gained contracts at a number of studios as a 3D character animator, details of which can be seen on my CV. |
